Look, we’re not fancy here. WhatsOnDaGo is just a place to let folks know what’s happening around the bay, up the shore, in town, or wherever the action is. If there’s something goin’ on and you wants people to know about it, this is the spot to post it. But we gotta have a few rules to keep it from turning into a mess, so give this a read before you throws up your event.
This site’s for real, public events. If it’s something people can go to and have a scoff, a laugh, or learn somethin’, we’re all for it. Things like:
Basically if it’s a thing people can come to and enjoy, toss ’er up. This is a celebration of what’s on da go all over Newfoundland and Labrador.
We’re not a place for classifieds, buy and sell, or throwing up your old skidoo for sale. If you’re just selling stuff and there’s no event tied to it, this isn’t the spot.
Private events like birthday parties, weddings, stag parties, or anything that’s invitation-only won’t be accepted. If it’s not open to the public, it don’t belong here.
Promotional stuff that’s just advertising a business or product with no actual event tied to it will be rejected too. Now if you’re a vendor at a fair, or putting off a public tasting or workshop, that’s fine. But just posting “check out our sale” or “book now” with no event? Nope.
Duplicate posts are a no-go. Don’t try to post the same thing three times just so it shows up more. If something changes with your event, edit the post you already got up. No need to make a new one.
If your event listing is half-finished or missing key info like the time, date, place, or what it even is, we might hold off posting it ‘til you got that filled in.
We gotta say this plain. We don’t allow anything that’s offensive, hateful, racist, sexist, homophobic, or just mean-spirited in general. This is a community space and we wants everyone to feel welcome.
Also, and we hate to even have to say it, but no sex parties, no kink nights, no fetish stuff, and nothing weird like that. If it’s not something you’d see pinned up in the post office or outside the hardware store, don’t post it here. We’re not trying to police everything, but we do want to keep it appropriate for your nan to scroll through without getting a fright.
Now if your event is 19+ cause there’s drinks or it’s in a lounge, that’s totally fine. Adult don’t mean dirty. Just use your head.
When you post an event, make sure it’s clear and honest. If something changes, update it. If we reject your post, we’ll let you know why. Sometimes it’s just a small fix.
We built WhatsOnDaGo so folks could find out what’s happening in their own backyard and maybe explore something new a town or two over. That only works if we all treat it with a bit of respect.
So keep it real, keep it clean, and keep ‘er goin’. There’s always something on da go. Let’s show the rest of the island what we’ve got planned.
